QoS Policy for Genesys SIP Endpoint is a lightweight, enterprise-focused configuration package developed by Franklin Templeton to prioritize voice and signaling traffic for Genesys SIP Endpoint clients across managed networks. It applies standards-based DiffServ/DSCP markings and policy-based QoS rules to SIP and RTP flows to help reduce jitter, latency, and packet loss during network congestion. The policy targets common SIP and RTP ports and protocols, supports secure signaling and media (TLS/SRTP) without inspecting payloads, and can be tailored to your organization’s QoS framework.

Key features:

  • Standards-based DSCP tagging (for example, EF for RTP and AF/CS classes for SIP), fully customizable
  • Port-, protocol-, and application-based rules compatible with Windows Policy-based QoS
  • Non-intrusive operation at the OS/network layer; no changes to Genesys applications
  • Centralized deployment via Group Policy, Microsoft Intune, or Microsoft Configuration Manager
  • Auditable configuration with optional logging to Windows Event Viewer
  • Minimal footprint and no collection or transmission of call content or user data

Benefits:

  • More consistent call quality for agents and customers
  • Predictable prioritization across LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi
  • Faster troubleshooting through clear, documented QoS rules

Typical configuration defaults:

  • SIP signaling on TCP/UDP 5060/5061 marked CS3/AF31 (customizable)
  • RTP media streams marked EF (DSCP 46) on configured port ranges used by Genesys SIP Endpoint
  • Site-specific exceptions and overrides as needed

Compatibility and requirements:

  • Designed for environments using Genesys SIP Endpoint softphones
  • Supported on Windows 10/11 and Windows Server (including VDI/DAAS scenarios)
  • Administrator privileges required to apply or deploy policies
  • Coordination with network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers) is recommended to honor DSCP markings end to end

Notes:

  • This package focuses on QoS configuration and does not replace Genesys provisioning or SIP server settings.
  • Validate port ranges and DSCP values against your Genesys release and corporate network standards before rollout.
